Review of the Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack on a 2012 Ford Edge

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier for 2-inch Hitches, part number TH9027. Now, all we'll need to do to fit this bike rack to the vehicle is slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, making sure that the integrated locking hitch pin is pulled out. Once the pin is over the collar, we'll push it back in and allow it to lock in to the hitch pin hole of the hitch. We'll then move to the back of the shank here where we'll tighten the knob down, securing our bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few clearance measurements. Our ground clearance at the bottom of the bike rack is 11 inches and the anti-rattle knob is 2 inches from the back of the vehicle.

We'll now go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the top of the bike rack mast to bring out the dual arm where we'll undo the cradles straps, exposing our cradles. We'll place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around, securing our bike to the bike rack. A great feature of the Thule Apex Swing is its ability to swing out away from the back of the vehicle with your bikes loaded or unloaded. All you'll need to do is undo the wing nut here at the back of the bike rack mast and make sure the pin is pulled at the hinge. You can then swing your bike rack out, bringing your bike out with it.

We can then open our cargo door. And there you have it for our test fit of the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier for 2-inch Hitches, part number TH9027 on our 2012 Ford Edge.
