Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevy Suburban we are going to test to fit the Thule Apex Swing 4-Bike carrier for 2-inch hitches. Part number TH9027. Our vehicle is already pre-equipped with the 2 inch hitch and our bike rack is already preassembled and so we will go ahead and side the bike rack shank directly in to the receiver tube, aligning the hitch pinhole. Then we can lock down the integrated hitch pin and tighten down the hand knob. As you can see with the built in hand knob tightened down, it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the vehicle. This is what our bike carrier will look like in the stored position.
Next we can go ahead and take a couple measurements from the closest point to the up right of our bike rack to the nearest point of the bumper is 5 inches. From the lowest point of the back of the bike rack to the ground is 22 inches of ground clearance. Now we can go ahead and use the hitch switch to extend the arms, which you will notice the arch to create more space between bikes. Youll also notice that the carrying arms have the holdfast cradles to minimize road shock and vibrations. Lets go ahead and put our carrying arms up and prepare to load our bike.
We will do this by releasing the hold down straps so we can set our bike directly in to position. Alright. With our mounting straps out of the way we can go ahead and load up our bike. Now with our bike in position we can go ahead and use the straps to secure the bike to the bike rack. One of the great features about the Apex Swing 4 bike carrier is that were able to swing the bike carrier away from the vehicle with the bikes loaded to access the rear carload area.
Lets go ahead and do that now. As you can see with our bike racks swung out of the way we have plenty of access to the rear carload area. As you can see in just a few simple steps weve gone ahead and secure the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the vehicle. Now were ready to hit the road. With our vehicle already equipped with a 2 inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled with our 2 inch bushing installed we can slide the bike rack shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well like up the hitch pin holes and ten install and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and clip. With our vehicle equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled, well go ahead and slide the bike shank directly into the receiver tube line up the hitch pinholes and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and lock. Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Chevrolet Suburban
Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Suburban we will be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4-Bike carrier part number TH9029. To begin our installation we install the bike rack shank in to the hitch, line up the hitch pinhole and insert our anti-rattle bolt. We can then tighten down with a wrench and that will secure our bike rack to the vehicle and we can go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 22 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 4 inches. Well now go ahead pull the hitch switch at the bottom of the bike rack to tilt it down and we will go ahead and open our cargo door. And as you can see we can gain a full cargo access with this bike rack.
