Today on this Ford F150 we are going to be installing the Power Tailgate Lock from Pop & Lock, part number pal8250. To start our installation off we are going to go ahead and lower down the tailgate, and on the back side here we got the access panels that is covering the innards of our locking mechanism. You want to go ahead and remove that first, and there are 8 tork head screws that we have to remove to get it off the tailgate. We will next go ahead and release the rod ends from the scissor links, and to do that these little green clips here actually just flip up. Take a screw driver and then next we will take and remove the two 10 mm nuts that are holding the scissor bracket to the handle, and then we will go ahead and take it out. Okay what we are going to do is go ahead and do a quick test fit of the components here and make sure everything is working before we actually install it on the vehicle.
So we will go ahead and put the scissor link bracket back onto the handle here, and we will go ahead and take our power lock, see its go the actuator, the actuator is right here and this bracket right here is going to mount over the stud here on the passengers side. Lets go ahead and put the nut on there just to hold it in place for the time being. You want to make sure that the two crank arms on our power lock are straddling the toggle link here on the scissor link bracket. Okay we will next go ahead and take the wiring harness and plug it into our power lock. We will start with the short lead of wire with the two bullet connectors on it.
Go ahead and connect that to the power lock, and at the other end we have a 2 prong lead, go ahead and plug that into our longer lead of wire, and we will go ahead and take the rest of the lead, were going to go inside of the passengers side of the vehicle, and remove the kick plate at the bottom. And were going to go ahead and locate the two wires, and take an interior fastener removal tool here. If you dont have one of these you could take a flat head screwdriver or pry bar, go ahead and pry this up. We need to go ahead and gain access to the wires inside the channel here, so Im going to go ahead and cut back the tape that is holding the wires into the channel, and the two wires we are looking for here, and there are some models that will have a paint with red tracer and then also the pink with black. Once weve located those two wires we will take the two provided splice connectors, what we will do is go ahead and insert that over the top of the wire, take a pair of pliers and go ahead and crimp that down until it locks into place, and we will do the same for the other wire as well.
We will next take our wiring harness here and you got two spade connectors on those, go ahead and take those and seat them inside our other end of our barb blue connector. Okay we will go back to our power lock now and make sure that it is working properly. We will go back to the back here and go ahead and use our keyless entry key fab here, we can go ahead and make sure that the mechanism is adjusting, and unlocking and locking like it should be. Once we have made sure it is working properly we just want to go ahead and disconnect it, and then we will go ahead and actually install everything. Okay we will install the power lock back on the stud like we had it when we had it disassembled from the vehicle, and again make sure the two arms are straddling the toggle link.
Okay on the side where we are using power lock we want to go ahead and take the new locking nut and assemble it onto the bracket, and on the other end go ahead and put the existing one on there. Once we got the power lock, the bracket, and the handle all reinstalled, go ahead and put the rods back into the scissor links, okay, and from there we are actually going to go ahead and start routing the wires up to the power lock. To get the pole connector ends routed up to our Pop & Lock, I have actually removed the tailgate here for clarity, but there are drain plugs here at the bottom of the tailgate. Ive taken a piece of fish wire, there are a couple holes inside of there, but I fed it through so that I could get up to our power lock, and using this piece of wire here as a guide go ahead and feed that through. Take that over to the lock, we will go ahead and make our connections here, and then take the other end of our short lead here, plug it into the long lead, and we need to route it up underneath the vehicle to get it up to the connectors that we had put in place underneath the passengers side kick panel, and on this vehicle over here on the passengers side where we had tapped in, if you pull the carpeting up its actually got an access hole right here that I am going to go ahead and use. Go ahead and peel the tape back and feed the wires up through there. When you go to route your wire from the rear to the front you want to make sure you avoid any possible hot spots or pinch points that could potentially damage the wire. I am going to just route it inside the channel here and over to our connectors. Go ahead and plug them in just like we had done previously, and from there we just need to reassemble everything. Then our installation will be completed. With everything now reinstalled we will show you quickly how easy the new power lock system works. I am actually just going to be using the key fab, and when you go to lock it, with the doors on the vehicle locked, the tailgate is now locked as well. Hit the release button to open the doors, and your tailgate is unlocked as well, and with that that will conclude the installation of the power tailgate lock, part number pal8250. .
Master Lock Truck Bed Security Lock Review

Today we are going to review part number 8287DAT from Master Lock, the truck bed security you lock and also accompanying part number 78DPF this is their Master Lock 10 millimeter braided security cable. First thing we will go over is the components of the lock itself. You can see it has the mount that goes to the truck bed itself, the actual lock, and the U bolt part and then also it comes with an Allen key and also a set of keys. This unit we will mount to the truck bed in two different ways. First off as shown here that the hardware is used to install it to the stake pocket on the top of the bed itself. This lock can also replace one of the tie down points on the bed of the vehicle. To begin our install what we are going to have to do is actually take apart the lock and that is a good way to show you how it works. 00:41
