Review of the Swagman XTC2 Wheel Mount Hitch Bike Rack on a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu

Today on our 2012 Chevy Malibu, well be test fitting the Swagman XTC2 Two-Bike Wheel Mount Carrier, part number S64670. With our vehicle already equipped with the 1-1/4 inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled, were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well begin by sliding the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well line up the hitch pin hole. Well then insert our anti-rattle bolt. With our anti-rattle bolt in, well go ahead and tighten it down using our wrench.

Well then install the safety pin. Now that our bike rack is secured to the vehicle, well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements. From the bottom of the bike rack to the ground is 10 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 2-3/4 inches. Now well go ahead and fold the bike rack down to gain cargo access. As you can see, we do have full access to the trunk area.

Now, with the vertical arm in this down position, well get ready to load our bike. We will also need to loosen the wheel loop straps before we fit our bike. With the vertical bar down and the wheel loops opened up, we can now fit our bike. We do want to remember when putting the vertical bar back up into position to reinstall the lock pin to further stabilize the vertical bar. Now that our top bar clamp is in place, we can go ahead and strap down the wheels.

And in just those few simple steps, our bike is loaded and were ready to hit the road. And that does it for our test fit of the Swagman XTC2 Two-Bike Wheel Mount Bike Carrier, part number S64670 on our 2012 Chevrolet Malibu.
