Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fiting the Swagman XTC-2 platform style bike rack part number S64670. Quick note about this bike rack,it will fit 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. With our bike rack preassembled we're ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle, we'll need only two slidy bike rack shank to the hitch, line the hitch pin hole and insert our and insert our anti-rattle bolt. We'll then tighten it down with a wrench. With our bike rack secured to the vehicle, we can now unfold the platform to gain cargo access. As you can see, we can gain full access to the cargo area with this bike rack.
We'll now give a few measurements, there is 17 and 1/2 inches of ground clearance at the back of the bike rack and there is 8 inches from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle. With the vertical bar in the down position we'll now only need to undo the wheel loops straps to load our bike. We'll then set the bike into the wheel loops and we'll bring the vertical bar up and secure it to the top bar of the bicycle making sure to reinstall the vertical bar clip. One quick note, be sure that the wheel loop openings fit the wheels before bringing the vertical bar into position. Now that the top bar clamp is in place, we'll strap down the wheels to the wheel loops which will secure our bike to the bike rack and we're ready to hit to the road.
And that complete our test fit of the Swagman XTC2 part number S64670 on our 2011 Ford Esxape.
