Today on our 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan we're going to be test fitting the Surco 24x60 Folding Cargo Carrier for 2-inch hitches, part number 52018F. With our vehicle equipped with a 2-inch hitch and our carrier already preassembled we'll go ahead and slide the carrier shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch lining up the hitch pin hole. Then we'll install our pin and clip. This is what our carrier looks like when it's in stored position. Next, we'll pull the pin at the base of the carrier and fold the carrier into the down position reinstalling the pin to secure it. Next, we'll go ahead and check the rear cargo access.
As you can see with our carrier down we can still gain rear cargo access. Now, let's go ahead and give you a few measurements. From the nearest point of the bumper to the nearest point of the front rail on our carrier is 12 inches. With our carrier in the down position it adds an additional 38 inches to the overall vehicle length and from the very end of the carrier we have 13inches of ground clearance. The tail pipe for the exhaust is a turndown but those point back towards the carrier.

We've got about 10 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. We've got about 1-1/2 inches of space between the closest part of the carrier and the closest part of the vehicle, and overall, we've added about 21-1/2 inches of length to the rear of our vehicle.
