Ford F-150 Tail Gate

Installation of a Stromberg Carlson Tailgate on a 2012 Ford F-150

Today we have with this the 2012 Ford F150. We're going to show you how to install the Stromberg Carlson Vented 5th Wheel Tailgate, part # VG-04-100. The first thing we need to do is remove the OEM tailgate. We'll lower it partially, disconnect the cables and then move the door to about a 45-degree angle so that we can slide it off of its hinges. Next we'll take a latch assembly, put it into place on a tailgate and use the included hardware to install our latch. We'll repeat the same for the opposite side of the tailgate.

With our latches installed to our tailgate, we'll take the split rings and put them on the ends of the latches and place to the cotter pin. Next we'll take the rubber pads and put them over our last assembly so that when we close the tailgate, our striker will hit the rubber pads. So three of a 2012 Ford pickup, we're going to take the round pivot tube insert and put it on our pivot post over on the driver side. Now we're ready to fit our tailgate under the truck. We'll slip over the driver side pivot post then under the passenger side.

We'll hold the latches open, close the tailgate and let the latches go. And now we have our new Stromberg Carlson Tailgate installed on our pickup. That's it for our install of the Stromberg Carlson Vented 5th Wheel Tailgate, part # VG-04-100 on our 2012 Ford F150.
