Today on our 2012 Chevy Suburban were going to do a test fit of the Sport Rack 2 bike hitch mounted bike carrier part #: a30901. With our vehicle already equipped with a 2 inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled with a 2 inch adaptor bushing we simply slide the bike shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch and line up the hitch pin holes. Then well secure the bike rack with our anti-rattle bolt and safety clip. Alright, with our anti-rattle bolt installed and tightened down, you can see it really takes out any movement between the bike rack shank and the hitch. This is what our bike rack will look like in the stored position. Next, well go ahead and put the platform down on our bike rack by removing the two securing pins and reinstalling them with our platform down.
Okay, with our platform down, the nearest point from the platform to the bumper is 9 and a half inches and from the lowest point of the back of the bike carrier to the ground gives us 27 inches of ground clearance. Next, well go ahead and lower the center support arm and see if we can still gain rear cargo access. As you can see with the center support arm down, we still have plenty of rear cargo access. Now, lets go ahead and prepare to load up a bike. First well undo the wheel straps and then well move the center support arm cradles to the top of the center support arm.
Now were ready to go ahead and load up our bike. First well set up our bike into the wheel loops and then well bring our center support arm up, bringing the center support arm cradles down on the crossbar. Then well reinstall the center support arm pin. Okay, with the center support arm resecured well now go ahead and tighten down the center support arm cradles on the crossbar. Once thats done well go ahead and secure the wheels with the wheels straps.
Now, in just a few simple steps weve gone ahead and secured the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the vehicle. And that does it for the test fit of our Sport Rack 2 bike hitch mounted bike carrier for inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitches part #: a30901 on our 2012 Chevy Suburban.
