Today on our 2009 Buick Enclave well be installing the Westin Sure Grip Running Boards part number 27-6620-1835. Our first step will be identifying our brackets. The brackets will be used to bolt to the underbody of the vehicle and then to the running board. This will be our front bracket. Well also go ahead and show you the front bracket hardware. The front bracket again will bolt to the underbody of the vehicle and then to our running board.
These are our two attachment points for the front bracket and well be securing it with the 2-inch bolt plates and then the flat washer, split lock washer and 1/2-inch nut. Next well go ahead and identify and show you the rear bracket and hardware. For our rear bracket well be using the 1-1/2 bolt plate assembly, flat washer, split lock washer and 1/2-inch nut for the inside attachment point. For the outside attachment point, well be using the 3/8-bolt along with the bridge weld nut and then well secure that in the body of the vehicle with a plastic flat washer then our metal flat washer, split lock washer and nut. Now lets go ahead and install them on the vehicle.
Well go into the attachment points and the underbody of the vehicle here and here. First, well install the 3/8-bolt and bridge weld nut into the frame into the underbody of the vehicle in our attachment point here. Then well slide on our plastic flat washer to secure it into position. Next, well go ahead and take the 1-1/2 bolt plate assembly and install it to the inside fastener for our bracket here. Again, the long end will feed into the hole first.
Next well go ahead and bring our bracket up to the underbody of the vehicle and secure it again with the flat washer, then our split lock washer and 1/2-inch nut. Well leave our hardware finger tight at this time. Well go ahead and repeat the same process for other mounting locations. Now that we have both bracket assemblies installed well go ahead and prepare our running board and install it. This will be the running board for the passengers side.
This is the plastic trim guard assembly that will need to be installed. Well go ahead and flip the running board over and youll see where the groove of the plastic trim will fit into the groove of the running board. Lets go ahead and slide that into position now. Next, well go ahead and install the 5/16-square head bolts. They will slide into the track of the running board. Now with the bolts into position, well be securing them with a flat washer and 5/16-lock nut. Its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you line up the square head bolts with the brackets as you install them. Now with our running board in position well go ahead and secure it again with a 5/16 flat washer and a 5/16 nut. Were ready to go ahead and tighten and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Starting with the 1/2-inch bracket hardware first, then our 3/8 bracket hardware and finally, tightening the 5/16 hardware last. Now with all our fasteners tightened and torqued to specifications here on the passengers side, well go ahead and repeat the same process on the drivers side. With the drivers side completed this completes the installation of the Westin Sure Grip Running Boards part number 27-6620-1835 on our 2009 Buick Enclave.
