Today on our 2012 Ford Focus we're going to be test fitting the Rocky Mounts tie-rod roof mounted bike carrier, part number RKY1014. We already have our carrier assembled according to the instructions, so now we're ready to mount it up on top of our vehicle. First we'll lay the carrier up on top of our crossbars. We'll fit the front straps around the crossbar, back to the head of the bikerack and use the included allen key to tighten the straps down. Once we've done that, we can reinstall our front cover. Next, at the rear of the bike rack, we'll fit the rear clamp around our crossbar and use the wing nuts to tighten it down.
Now we're ready to load up our bike. We need to make sure that our front scour is unlocked and open and that wheel strap at the rear of the carrier is also open. Once we've done that, we can lift our bike up, place the rear wheel into the wheel tray and set the front fork down into the scour. We'll set the secure the bike first by the scour and then we'll move back and use the wheel strap to secure our rear wheel. With that done, our bike's all loaded up and we're ready to hit the road.
