Review of the Rhode Gear Highway Hitch Bike Rack on a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban

Today on our 2012 Chevy Suburban, were going to do a test fit of the Rhode Gear Highway 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches, part number RG8015220. With our vehicle already equipped with a 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled, were going to go ahead and slide the bike shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch and line up the hitch pinhole then well go ahead and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and clip. As you can see with the anti-rattle bolt tighten down, it really takes out any movement between the bike rack shank and the receiver tube. Now, lets go ahead and take a couple of measurements. From the upright of our bike rack to the nearest point of the bumper is 8-1/2 inches. From the very back of the bike rack to the ground, we have 21-1/2 inches of ground clearance.

Now, we can go ahead and pull the pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle to gain rear cargo access. As you can see with the bike rack tilted away from the vehicle, it gives us plenty of rear cargo access. Now, well go ahead and prepare to load up our bike. First one, do the hold-down straps so we can set our bike directly into position. Now, were ready to go ahead and load our bike.

Then well go ahead and secure the bike with the hold down straps. And there you have it. Our bike is now secured to the bike rack. In just a few simple steps, weve gone ahead and secured the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the vehicle. Now, were ready to hit the road.

And that does it for our test fit of the Rhode Gear Highway 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches, part number RG8015220, on our 2012 Chevy Suburban.
