Review of the Rhode Gear Highway Hitch Bike Rack on a 2006 Toyota Prius

Alright, today on this 2006 Toyota Prius, were going to do a test fit of part number RG8015220 from Rhode Gear. This is our Highway 2 Bike Carrier. Some things to know about this bicycle rack that it will work with 1-1/4-inch receiver hitches both class I and class II. This will also work with 2-inch receiver hitches with the provided spacer. On this car, well be working with a class 1 receiver hitch. Lets start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch then well go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt, then well install the safety pin on the other side.

Now, we can go ahead and get some clearance measurements. From the bumper to the bike rack, were looking at a clearance of 6 inches. Ground clearance looks like 9 inches. Now, well go ahead and check access to the back of the vehicle. Ok, that looks good.

Now, we can go ahead and load up the bike. What well do first is to make sure that the straps are out of the way for the cradles were going to use and then well go ahead and load up the bike. Well take our bike and bounce it on the cradles then run the straps over the top tube. And thats what it takes to load up our bike. And with that, that will finish it for our test fit of part number RG8015220 from Rhode Gear on our 2006 Toyota Prius..
