Alright today on this 2007 Acura MDX we are going to do a test fit of part number RG8015220 from Rhode Gear. This is their Highway 2 bike carrier. Lets go ahead and start off by installing the bike rack into the hitch. Put it in line up the hitch pin holes install the anti-rattle bolt that just threads into place. We use a 3/4 inch wrench to help tighten it down. On the other side of the bolt we will install our safety clip. We are at the bottom of our rack we will give you some measurements and that will give you an idea of ground clearance. From the bottom of the bicycle rack to the ground on this particular vehicle is going to be 13-3/4 inches and from the edge of the bumper to the bike rack is going to be about 6 inches. 0:51
Now this bike rack will tilt back out of the way so that you have access to the back of the vehicle. Pull out the clip and then the pin and you can lower the rack out of the way so you can open up the hatch. And you want to do this with the bikes off. Okay lets go ahead and put it back up. The rack will hold two bikes with cradles that are constructed from a rubber material and they have hook and loop fasteners on a strap to hold the bikes down in place. To begin our test fit well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch tube and turning the black handle located at the base of the carrier to engage our anti-rattle device. Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Acura MDX
Alright, today, on a 2012 Acura MDX, were going to do a test of the part number TH9029, the Vertex bicycle rack. Two things to know about this bike rack, that it will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches, both class one and class two, however when you use this with a class one receiver hitch, you are limited to carrying just two bicycles. It will also work with two inch receiver hitches which include a spacer, thats what we will be working with today. To start our test of it, well go ahead and put the bicycle rack into the hitch. Then well install the anti-rattle bolt. And then well go ahead and get a few clearance measurements.
