Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen Roof Rack

Installation of a Rhino Rack SXB Roof Rack on a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen

Today on this 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagon we will be installing a Rhino-Rack Roof Rack, part number SXB3. We already have our cross mounts put together, and we are ready to mount them up on top of our vehicle. This system is designed to attach to our factory raised side rails so there is not specific cross bar spread that we need to setup for. However, you may want to check the owners manual or the instructions for whatever accessories you will be using to see if they have a required cross bar spread. You need to make sure that the Rhino Rack cross bars run perpendicular to our factory raised side rails. To do this we will find a fixed point on the side rails and measure from there to the end of the clamp on the bottom of our Rhino Rack bar.

We will also make sure that the cross bar hangs evenly on both sides of the vehicle. Once we have our front assembly side bar in position, we can go ahead and begin tightening it down. We will use the included allen wrench to tighten the allen bolt inside the crossbar. We will move back and forth from passengers side to drivers side to make sure we tighten down the system evenly and dont lose our position. Once weve tightened down the front assembly, we are ready to mount the rear.

We need to make sure the rear crossbar runs parallel with the front. So to do this we are going to measure from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar and make sure the measurement is the same on both sides. Once we have made sure that our rear crossbar is running parallel to the front, and our overhang is even on both sides we can go ahead and tighten it down using the same procedure we used with the front assembly. After you have the rear assembly crossbar tightened down, you are ready to install your locking end caps. Last thing we will check to see how much height weve added with the new cross bar assemblies.

From the top of the side rails to the top of our new crossbars, weve added about 2 inches of height. And thats it for our test fit of our Rhino-Rack Roof Rack on our 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagon, part number SXB3. The Rhino-Rack is also available with silver crossbars and that part number is SXB3-SILV. .
