Today, we have a 2007 Volvo XC90 and we're going to be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System, part number SXB3. This rack is also available on silver and that's part number SXB3-SILV. We already have our roof rack assembled according to the instructions so now we're ready to put it up on top of our vehicle. We're going to take the front crossbar and set it up on top of our raised side rails. Since this system is designed to be used with raised side rails, there are no specific measurements that we need to set our crossbar at. We do need to make sure that the bars are overhanging evenly on both the driver and passenger's side.
We also want to make sure that the front bar runs perpendicular to our raised side rails. To do this, we'll measure from the fixed point on each of the side rails to the leading edge of our clamp and make sure its the same on both sides. Once we've done that, we'll use the included Allen wrench to tighten it all down. Then we can reinstall our caps. Next, we'll move on to the rear bar.
Again, we need to make sure that the overhang is even on both driver and passenger's side but we need to make sure that the rear bar runs parallel to the front bar. To do this, we'll measure from the center of the top slide on the front bar to the center of the top slide on the rear bar and make sure that its measurement is the same on both sides. This measurement is also known as the crossbar spread, and although we dont have to use the specific crossbar spread, we now want to check with the owner's manual of any accessories that we're going to be using to see if it requires the specific spread. Once we have the rear bar in position, we'll again tighten it down like we did in the front and reinstall our locking end caps. And with that, our rack system is installed and we're ready to start mounting accessories.
That does it for our test fit of the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System, part number SXB3 on our 2007 Volvo XC90.
