Today on our 2009 Kia Sportage, we'll be test fitting the Pro Series Q-Slot Platform Style Bike Carrier, part number PS63134. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin. And with that, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now we'll give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 15 1/2 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is five inches. Now we can go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our cargo door.
And as you can see, we can gain full access opening the door completely with this bike rack. Now we're almost ready to load our bike. All we need to do is undo the wheel loop straps and make sure they're out of the way. We also need to make sure that the top bar clamp is fully extended on our vertical bar. We can then place our bike into the wheel loops and bring our vertical bar up remembering to reinstall the pin holding the bar in place.
With the pin in, we can bring the clamp down, securing it to the top bar of our bike. Next, we'll move down to the wheel loops where we'll run the straps through the wheels and secure them on the other side. And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we're ready to head on down the road. And that completes our test fit of the Pro Series Q-Slot Platform Style Bike Carrier, part number PS63134, on our 2009 Kia Sportage.
