Alright, today on this 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 diesel we are going to install part number MF17931 from MagnaFlow. The first thing we are going to do is remove the bolts for the flange right here. I am going to spray them down with some lubricant first. And this is where the exhaust will begin. We will leave one nut on there to hold everything together until we are ready to completely take the exhaust down. Alright, now we will move on to the rubber hangers. And we will go ahead and apply some lubricant to them as well to help remove them. 1:00
Alright, before we take the last hanger off, we are actually going to wrap a strap around the exhaust to help control the descent when we take it off. Alright, now we have to take it out. You will definitely need an extra set of hands on this one. We will go ahead and start off by installing the front extension pipe. We will mount it to the OEM rubber insulator and then we will bolt it on to the 4 bolt flange. We will reuse the original OEM fasteners to reinstall. Go ahead and snug all of the bolts down just enough to keep everything together. Ok, next go ahead and slide on a clamp and install our mid pipe. And then we will slide that on to the first pipe. Slide it on as far as possible. We are going to leave everything loose for now. 2:01
Next we will go on to the muffler. We will slide on another clamp and then we will slide our muffler on. We are going to use this strap here to help hold up the muffler because it does not have its own hanger just yet. Alright, the rest of our tailpipe goes over the axle. We will install that on to the muffler. Alright, now we can add our clamp, slash hanger. Now we can slide our U-bolt into place and install our nuts. On our last part of tailpipe we will slide on a clamp on it. And then we will run everything together. Once you have everything roughly in the position you want it, we will go ahead and start tightening everything down. We will start from the front and work our way back. When we tighten it up one at a time, the whole assembly will fit to the vehicle. And of course, you will have to manipulate it as you tighten it down. Use a block of wood to give us adequate space between the exhaust tailpipe and the shock too. And you will probably end up having to loosen these and tighten them a few times to get the exhaust routed the way you want it. Once you have everything snugged down the way you want it, go ahead and torque everything down as specified in the instructions. Alright, once you have everything torqued down go ahead and rev the engine and check for an exhaust leak. And then make any adjustments as necessary after that. MagnaFlow Exhaust Installation - 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Series
Today on this 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Series extended cab short bed we are going to be installing MagnaFlow exhaust system part number MF16568. We are underneath the vehicle and the first thing I have done is lowered the spare tire out of the way to give us some extra working room. We also want to disconnect the battery. What that is going to do is once we get the system installed we can reconnect it and it will actually reset the computer system so it does not bring up any trouble codes from the new system. The first step before we can install our exhaust system is to of course remove the factory installed exhaust. There are four exhaust hangers that we are going to need to remove the exhaust off of towards the more rear side of the exhaust system. 00:39
