First I would like to point out our fastening points. There are two weld nuts here in the frame. There are an identical two on the passenger side as well. Before we put our hitch into place, what I want to do is spray each of the weld nuts with a little spray lubricant. Then I am going to take a nylon tube brush, this is a 1/2 inch nylon tube brush part number 814092, and I am going to use it to clean out the threads of those weld nuts because over time they will become corroded and fill up with dirt and debris. So now that we have our threads cleaned out, we can go ahead and test fit our hardware. It threads in nicely so we know our weld nuts are cleaned out thoroughly which makes for a much easier installation of our new hitch. 1:23
That completes the two weld nuts on the driver side. I am going to go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side. At this time, it may be necessary to get an extra set of hands to help you put the hitch in place. Now that we have all of our fasteners in finger tight, I am going to go ahead and run them down. OK, now that we have our fasteners started on the driver side, I am going to go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side. OK, now that we have all of our fasteners tightened down, we are going to go ahead and torque to specifications. Now that we have all of our fasteners torqued to specifications, that completes the installation of Curt hitch part number 13538.
