Today on our 2010 Subaru Forester, well be test fitting the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains for Light Trucks, part number PW2016C. These are perfect for the occasionally use. The tire chains feature are rugged steel wiring covered with case-hardened steel rollers for traction. Theyre easy to install and comply with all DOT specifications. Theyll fit either the front, rear or all-wheel drive vehicles. Theyre designed with a low profile, they gives you a smoother ride.
They install quickly and easily with the integrated heavy-duty lever. You can also use the rubber adjusters, part number PW100, to help hold your chains in place. These are recommended. Now, all we need to do is make sure were using the correct chain for the correct side of the vehicle. The chain is come tagged indicating whether they are from the left hand or right hand of the vehicle.
They also have an arrow, showing the direction of rotation for the chain. Once weve determined we have the correct chain, we can go ahead and drape them over the tire and bring them down so that the adjusters are on the lower side of the tire. As you look at the tire, that ends of the side cables with the keyhole latch attachments should be on the right-hand side of the tire. Once you have your cable change draped over the tire, well secure the cables on the inner sidewall. Well pull the end of the side cables with the knobs to meet up with the keyhole latch.
You want to use only your hands to tighten the cables; you do not need to use any tools. Well now begin working on the outer sidewall to fasten the lever lock. Well pull the end of the side cable with the knobs to meet up with the lever lock. Tighten the side cable to remove any slack then insert the knob into the keyhole latch and the lever lock, so that the cable remains taut. Make sure that the cross members are centered over tire tread.
We can then catch the side cable with the hook at the end of the lever lock to secure the lever lock. You may need to readjust the keyhole latches on the inner sidewall of the tire to keep the cross members lying straight across the tire tread. Just like that, our tire chains are on, ever ready to head on to the snow and ice. That completes our test fit of part number PW2016C, the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains for Light Trucks on our 2010 Subaru Forester.
