Today on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, were going to be installing the Bestop HighRock Narrow Front Bumper, part number B4293301. This will be in conjunction with the Bestop Tubular Grill Guard, part number B4291501. Our first step is going to be removing the lower rock guard. As you removed the lower rock guard, there will be a total of six fasteners. These are screw-in pushpin fasteners. Well need to screw out the center of the fastener and then remove the pushpin part.
Each process we do here on one side is gonna get repeated identically on the opposite side. Now with the rock guard out of the way, we can go ahead and remove the manufacturers bumper. To do this, there are a total of eight fasteners. There will be four on the inside of the frame rail and pull on the outside of the frame rail. Lets go ahead and do that now.
Before this application, we have two fog lights in the bumper so well need to go ahead and disconnect the sockets from the lights and then a quick tech tip, go ahead and remove the fasteners holding the wiring to the bumper and get out of the way before you attempt to move your fasteners from the bumper. Now, we can go ahead and remove the bumper. To install the tubular grill guard onto the front bumper, we have a total of four fasteners. Weve got four hex bolts, four lock washers and four flat washers. Well go ahead and sit the tubular grill guard into position and then take the lock washer and slide it onto the hex bolt and then the flat washer, and then put each into position finger tight and then well go ahead and tighten them down.
With our fasteners tightened on the drivers side, well go ahead and repeat the same process on the passengers side. Now, before we ready to install the new bumper, were gonna go ahead and remove the old lights from the manufacturers bumper. This will consist of four fastening screws for each light. With both lights removed, were now ready to go ahead and install in the new bumper. With the new bumper, well be using the new outer trim piece that has two pre-drilled holes then well line up with the pre-drilled holes in the bumper.
Well go ahead and put that in place along with the two screws. Next, well be using a new inner housing that will line up with the screws that we just installed for the outer trim piece. This will be secured with two nylon lock nuts. Lets go ahead and tighten them down now. Now with the new light housing secured, well go ahead and take the old lights with four new Phillips screws and secure it to the new housing. Alright, now were ready to go ahead and put our new bumper in place. Its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the bumper while you install your fasteners. First, install the flat washer and then the nylon locking nut. Once we get all eight fasteners installed, we can go ahead and tighten them down. A quick tech tip, after you get multiple fasteners installed just to secure the bumper on place, we can go ahead and run down a couple of fasteners just to secure the bumper. Once we have all the fasteners secured and tightened down, well need to go ahead and reinstall the wiring to the fog lights in the bumper. First, well reconnect the two fog light sockets and then well use a couple of black zip ties to secure the wiring. With our wiring reinstalled and secured, that will complete the install of our Bestop HighRock Narrow Front Bumper, part number B4293301, in conjunction with the Tubular Grill Guard, part number B491501, on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
