Today on this 2007 GMC Sierra, were going to install brake controller Prodigy P2 part number 90885. Our first step is going to be mounting the brake controller bracket. In this application, were going to put our mounting bracket here underneath the dash. Im going to secure it with two self-tapping screws. With our bracket installed, Ill go ahead and test feed our brake controller. Looks like it will fit nicely.
Now we can go ahead and run our wires. Next we need to locate the manufactures wiring for the trailer tow package. Once you locate the manufactures trailer tow package, itll be labeled to tell you which application youre going to need. Ok, our red wire with the black tracers going to be our battery power. Our orange wire is going to be our brake signal.
Our white wire will be our ground. And our dark blue will be our trailer brake signal. So lets go ahead and take our butt connectors. Well strip back our wires and make the connection to the brake controller pigtail. Lower our wires strip back, we can go ahead and install our butt connectors.
And so for our pigtail, well connect our white to white for our ground to ground. Our blue to blue is our trailer brakes and then our brake signal for our vehicle to our controller is going to be the red wire on the controller side and the orange on the manufacture side. Now well take our black wire to the red wire with the black tracer on the manufacture side. Before we get power in the vehicle, we need to make a connection out here next to the fuse box. Go ahead and remove the fuse box cover and youll find the main harness coming in to the fuse box here.
Taped to it is the wire that we need to make connection for our tow package to work. Now carefully, cut the electrical tape away and expose the wire. You can see the wire already has a pre-made ring terminal on it. Were going to route this out to the post and tighten it down. With our connection made, we can go ahead and reinstall the fuse box cover. Now we can go ahead and route or brake control wire over to our mount with behind the plastic covering around the steel peeler and our plug will end up here at our brake mount and brake control model. Go ahead and make a connection with our brake controller. I can see it lights up, thats a good sign. Ill go ahead and put my fasteners in and install our brake controller on our mount. And then well use some zip ties to secure our wiring. Using a pair a side cutters, carefully go back in here and just clip off the extra from our zip ties. And that completes the install of our Tekonsha, Prodigy P2 brake controller, part number 90885 on a 2007 GMC Sierra.
