Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid

This part number will also fit 2005-2008 Ford Escape including the hybrid, the 2005-2008 Mazda Tribute and the 2005-2008 Mercury Mariner including the hybrid. Well begin our install by taking down our spare tire to create more working room, now well show you where the bolts are going to be. Theres no drilling on this frame so were going to use this hole here, this oval one and this hole back here. Were going to fish wire bolts from the inside out. Next Ill show you the location where we pull the bolts through. To begin our fish wiring, basically it comes with a fish wire tool. We stick it in our first hole here, and push it all the way out to the end of the frame. What you want to do is slide your plate on first and get that started inside the frame. Once it falls through like so, its good to go. Now we thread on our bolt and pull that on through also

It will be a tight fit but it will fall through. Then you unthread your bolt leader and there you are. Now you only have five more to do. With all of our bolts pulled into place, we can now install our hitch. Well hold it up there with a couple of nuts to keep it safe then well go back and install our flat washers and lock washers. Now that we have our hitch hung by a couple of nuts well install the rest of our hardware and re-install the washers and lock washers for the ones we just have the nuts on. Now well repeat for the other side. With our hitch up there, we didnt snug it down or anything, since theres a little slop in the holes well take that and use to our advantage and center the hitch the way we want it. Then well snug them up and give them there final torque. Getting to the last bolt on the passengers side towards the front, the exhaust is in the way. So what well do is pop off the rubber exhaust hanger and get that out of the way. Well use a strap to pull the exhaust and get a straight shot at the bolt. Now we can give them there final torque. Now that we have all of our bolts torqued into place, all we have to do is put our hanger back into place and were set to go. With our spare tire re-installed this vehicle is ready to go. There you have it for part # V82211 from Valley.
