Ibstallation of a Hitch on a 2008 Chrysler 300 Touring Edition

First step is to lower the exhaust, some models have dual exhaust this particular model has a single. Theres actually four hangers were going to have to lower to get the exhaust down. Two here, one in the front and one in the rear. Then there are two forward most ones. There is one screw holding each hanger in the rear here, so we can just take out those bolts to lower it. Before you lower the forward most exhaust mounts make sure you support the exhaust. When you remove these the exhaust will fall down. Were using a strap here to hold it tight. Pull the forward most ones off the hangers.

On the drivers side of the vehicle here Im going to show the existing holes that well be using to mount the hitch. Theres two weld nuts at the rear most point and one existing hole which will be the access hole for the handle nut to be put in the frame. On the passenger side of the frame well be using one existing weld nut and two existing holes for the handle nuts.

Now we lift the hitch into position. Go up and over the exhaust on the passengers side and up into position on the drivers side. Once its mounted into position using the existing weld nuts in the frame, well take the handle nut and bend it into position to get it into the frame. Were going to take an existing bolt and thread it directly into it. On the passenger side of the vehicle theres one existing weld nut well put a bolt into and were going to use two of the handle nuts for the two forward most mounting bolts. When we have all the fasteners up in position all we have to do is tighten them down. Once we have them nice and snug well bring our torque wrench in. The M12 Fasteners that go into the weld nuts get torqued at 68 pounds. The half inch bolts that mount into the handle nuts get torqued to 50 pounds. When you finished tightening the bolts, you can see the handle nut handles here are actually going to be in the way of putting the exhaust back up. Just go ahead and fold them up and out of position. You can do that on the drivers side as well.

Once the hitch is up into position, we just need to re attach our exhaust hangers. Go ahead the rearmost hangers as well. This is the installed hitch, part 36325.
