Here is a video of a Draw Tite custom hitch installation on a 2007 Dodge Charger. You can have a cool car and be able to tow toys. For road trips you can use a cargo carrier allowing more room inside to spread out and be comfortable. For trips to the beach you can pile on coolers and chairs. Bike enthusiasts can drive to the trails in comfort while the bikes are safely secured to a hitch mounted bike rack. There are really so many things a receiver hitch will allow!
Today we are going to install part number 36325 which is a Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch. We are installing it on a 2007 Dodge Charger RT model. First thing in installing the hitch is getting to the frame. The exhaust makes it really tight up here so we have to lower the exhaust by pulling off the rubber hangers and lowering it. So that we have more room to put the hitch up in there. First thing you want to spray it down with some WD40, make sure you get it worked in there real good. It is very tight even to just get a tool in there to pry it off. The back hanger we will just have to unbolt. Turns out on the passenger side there is not as much clearance as we needed. So we are going to go ahead and take down this exhaust hanger and that other one too. On the driver side we will start off by pointing out the access points. We are going to thread into this hole here. On this hole here we will actually run a handle nut which we will bend over to thread our bolts in that way
It is similar on the other side but it is arranged different. On the passenger side there is only one threaded hole. Then we have to do the handle nuts on these 2 holes here. One thing to try is to take out this exhaust. It actually comes out all the way. So we can work our hitch up into place. That is our main fastener which is threaded right here. Now we will go back to the first one we installed and put this lock washer on. These handle nut wrenches are pretty neat. What you can do is bend them the way you want them put them through the hole then you thread your bolt into them. This is one of those situations where you really can not see whats going on so you have to do it by feel. Then you just thread the 2 together then you can fold this up and out of the way so it does not rattle against anything. Or you can just shove it up there if you want. On the passenger side it is going to be harder. At least you can see where to line it up and the rest you can do by feel. Now go onto the other side. Getting back to the driver side we will go ahead and bolt those down first. Back to the passenger side to do the same. Then at this point we will put the exhaust back up and hopefully this car will start looking better. Back up to this one and one final check with the handle nut just to make sure that they are not touching. Then it is safe to put the exhaust back up. Then one final check on your exhaust to make sure it is not rattling against anything. That covers it for our install of part number 36325 Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch on our 2007 Dodge Charger RT.
