Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2007 Chevy HHR
Today we are going to do an install for part number 60815 from Hidden Hitch. On a 2007 Chevy HHR. This also applies too part number 24756. To install the hitch we need to some bolts inside here. Then also this hole needs to be drilled out to accommodate these fasteners. It will be the same for the other side but I believe on an HHR you are going to have to drill on the driver side. Go ahead and lower the exhaust to get it out of the way. There are 3 rubber hangers. One is in front and another on the opposite side and one near the back almost hidden. All 3 of them come out so that you can lower the exhaust giving you more space. The rear most hole is the one you have to drill out kind of like an oval instead of round. We are going to pull our bolts into the frame and out the bolt hole. Whats going to happen is this bolt leader is going to get threaded into the original hole and install our hardware on the leader and pull it back through. It goes in the left side and comes out the right
Installing our hardware on this side is pretty much the same thing. Except on this side we will put the spacer and the bolt on the leader. Then push them up in the hole and pull them right back down. Repeat for the opposite side. We can install the hitch now and what we will do is put one arm up and over the muffler then we will do the passenger side first. Once you have the hitch setting there you have some side to side to play with. Go ahead and center the hitch the way you want it. Then go ahead and snug up the bolts. The next thing we do is go ahead and reinstall our muffler. A little WD40 helps getting the muffler back on the hangers. That finishes our install of part number 60815 from Hidden Hitch on our 2007 Chevy HHR.
