Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

To start off the install we have take off three bolts, first were going to take off these two here, and save them because well be using them later. In fact, the hitch uses all the original hardware on the vehicle. Also in a later step this bolt here will be coming off also. The next step is to install the hitch up into the frame. Well have to work it around the relief springs, well have to bring it up at an angle, and bring it up over the relief springs. After that well use the stock bolts on the attachment points towards the front of the vehicle, then well start the attachments for the rear of the vehicle. Also for this step you want to get an extra set of hands to help out. Now we have the hitch hung by the two forward bolts, we didnt bother with the blocks right now, well re-install those later when we get the rear bolts mounted up.

Now we can install the rear bolts. We have our hitch in position now, Id like to make a few pointers. You see that the cut out of this hitch wraps around this bolt here. When its all said and done, this hitch should wrap around the washer around the bolt. It shouldnt be sitting on the washer or bolt at all. Just make sure you run these in straight and youll be okay. Well go back to our forward attachment here, and theres a spacer block that goes in between the hitch and the frame. Well pull our hitch down, take the bolt out, slip the block in place and re-install the bolt. With all of our bolts installed, now we can snug them down. Make sure the hitch gets into proper position around the bolt there. At this point we can start torquing everything down because we know our rear side bolts are centered around the main bolt with no interference. That does it for our install of the Dodge Grand Caravan with the stow and go seating part # 75305 from Draw-Tite.
