Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Today we are going to install part number 87432 from Hidden Hitch. We will be installing this class 3 receiver on a 2003 Chrysler Pacifica. This also will apply to part number 75522 from Draw Tite. To begin our install we actually took down our spare tire. Which is optional but it makes things easier in the long run. Basically what we are going to do here is take out this one bolt here. That should be held up here. And hardware will be pulled through this oval hole here and through the small square hole. 2 more bolts will be coming from the inside out here. It will be the same thing on both sides. Now on the passenger side obviously your exhaust will be in the way so we are going to want to lower it. We lower it by removing the rubber hangers and then getting the exhaust out of the way for more working room. It is also a good idea to use a strap to keep the exhaust from going down all the way.

Now we will go ahead and remove this bolt here first. Then do the same thing to the other side. Then we can go ahead and fish wire our blocks in. We are going to start with the smaller square hole first. Basically we are going to run our leader wire through and put a plate on and let it fall into place. Then thread the bolt on before pulling it down through the hole. Once you are finished you can go ahead and do the same thing on the passenger side. At this point we can go ahead and install the hitch in the frame. It is slightly odd shaped so it is a good thing to have an extra pair of hands. Then we will install the hitch with the bolts going towards the bumper. But leave the fasteners towards the front of the vehicle loose. Next we are going to install a washer in between the frame and the hitch. That is why we left it loose so we can tilt the hitch up and out of the way. Pop up the bolt a little bit and out away. Then you can slide the washer underneath it and our bolt back through. Do the same thing for the other side. At this point we can go ahead and snug up the hardware to the frame still leaving it loose. Because we still have to pull the bolts through the side of the frame.

Next what we need to do is install our hardware from the same hole we did before. Over and behind the hitch. One good tip is to take your bolts and them through up on the forward in making sure you have them lined up where you want them. That way you do not have to worry about shifting the hitch around while you are pulling the bolts through the frame. You can also bend these leaders to help pull them around corners. Then go ahead and repeat the same thing for the other side. Then at this point we can go ahead and start tightening up the bolts. Then give them their final torque. After torquing all the bolts down we can re attach our rubber hangers. Then the next and final step is to reinstall the spare tire. That covers it for install of your hitch 87432 from hidden hitch.
