Custom Fit Trailer Hitch
This Product Fits The Following Vehicles
1999 - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee All Models
Today we are going to install hitch part number V81800 on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2 forward most bolts are going to be here and here and they are going to be replaced. We are going to replace them after we put the hitch up. The rear most one is this bolt right here. As you can see there is a strap coming off the gas tank as well. We are going to go ahead and remove this bolt and the strap can stay right there. While we put the hitch into place. We are over on the passenger side now to show you the same bolts but on the opposite side. You have these 2 here that we are going to remove and replace when the hitch goes up. If it does not have a bolt in it then it is an existing weld nut. You want to go ahead and clean that out really good
Chances are since there was no bolt in it that it is full of dirt and grime. We will want to spray that down with WD40 and clean it out with a wire brush. With this rear most hole some models have a reinforcing strap that is already there. This one does not so we want to go ahead and use this block here. We are going to put that in between the frame and the hitch when we put it up there into place. That will shim up the space and make it even with the driver side. Since the driver side does have the reinforcement strap on
As you can see on this side where we did not have the reinforcing strap we used this block in between and the hitch itself. Now that we have the fasteners all up into the frame and the hitch is in place. We can go ahead and torque down the bolts. All the bolts driver side and passenger side get torqued down to 72 foot lbs. This concludes the installation of part number V81800 on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
