Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2003 Ford E250
Today we are going to do an install of part number 41546 from Draw Tite. We are installing it on a 2003 Ford E250 van. To point out how our install is going to work basically we pull right here into the frame using that to hold our hitch up which will allow us to see what holes on the hitch match up to the holes on the frame. First we have to lower the spare tire and then on the driver side there is a carbon canister we must move temporary to install the hardware. We only need to move it slightly so we can fit the hardware up here. We will remove these bolts here on the side and then this canister will slide right out. Now we can install our bolts on the very end of the frame here and we will hang out hitch from there.
We will also install this special washer but not until we see how our holes line up. Once we get the hitch in the air we know what holes line up with what. Then we can install our hardware as we need it. Do not forget the plates that go in between the hitch and the frame. We will go back to the first one here and install the washer. This is the reason that we had to move the canister out of the way. So we can get our hardware in there
Now you can go ahead and reinstall your carbon canister back here and tighten it up. It is just like the way it was. At this point go ahead and get the hitch centered up on the frame as much as possible. So you can get it centered the way you like it. Once we have it where we want it we can go ahead and tighten it down. We can go ahead now and give the bolts their final torque. That concludes our install of part number 41546 from Draw Tite. Installed on a 2003 Ford E250 Van.
