Today we are going to install part number 13223 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. We will show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame. It reuses these existing holes where these bolts are right now. This tie-down hook actually gets taken off the vehicle and left off, and it is going to be the same thing on the passengers side, where this tie-down loop will get taken off as well. And these pieces will stay off the vehicle. Also, we did take down the spare tire, just to get a little easier working room, and the spare tire will go back up in its place when we are done. All right, when you take this down, there is a threaded fitting here which the hitch uses, too. We are going to take some time here and actually clean that out really good. Spray it down with some lubricant and run the bolt in and out. Sometimes, in an aged vehicle, you may have to run a tap through it to clean it out.
All right, now at this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch. And we will install the hitch using the bolts and the holes that we just cleaned out the threads in. All right, and we just slip in our bolts. We have a long bolt the flat washer will go up, and just put the nut on top, just enough to get it started. When the drivers side is done, do the same thing on the passengers side. All right, now that we have got all our bolts started, let us go ahead and snug them down. Torque them down to the specified torque ratings in the instructions. OK, with the hardware installed, the only thing that is left over is to put the spare tire back up. And that covers our install of part number 13223 from Curt, on our 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - Draw-Tite
Today, on this 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, we're going to install part number 75075 from Draw-Tite. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on the vehicle. Next, we'll give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top the receiver opening down to the ground will be 19 inches. The center of the hitch pin hole to the bumper will be about 1 inch. Now, I'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Today on this 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13223. Before we get started with our hitch installation, we want to go ahead and show you a couple of the final install dimensions which will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 17-1/2 inches. And from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 3 inches. And now we will go ahead and move on to the installation. 0:28
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Today we are going to install part number 70534 from Hidden Hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Before we begin our install, it is a good idea to take down the spare tire to give us more working room and plus you can see what is going on a little bit easier, too. First off, we will show you where the hitch mounts onto the frame. It is going to mount onto the bottom of the frame where this tow hook is. That tow hook is going to have to come off. It also is going to attach to the side of the frame using these two bolt holes on the drivers side. This has got to go, and we will be using these two existing holes, too. Next, we will clean out our threaded holes in the frame. We are just using a battery terminal brush, and we are just going to run it in the threads to help clean it out. Keep running the brush in and out and spraying it until you get it good and clean, and then take your bolt and run it in a few threads at a time until you get it to go all the way through the nut. You are going to have to do this for all four bolts. All right, now we will start taking down these tie-down hooks.
