Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Today we are going to install part number 13344 on our Chevrolet Uplander. All right, the first thing we need to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust and temporarily remove this body bracket here. At this point we can go ahead and hang the hitch on the vehicle and snug it down to the frame because we have to use the hitch as a template to drill the rest of the holes in the frame. All right, with the hitch in place we will go ahead and drill a pilot hole, and the other holes we have to drill out in the frame will be right here. We will do one on each side toward the rear of the vehicle. And on some models you do not have to drill out back here, but on this model we actually have a hole that lines up with the body mount - no, the body bracket - so we will just go ahead and use that one. The next thing we do is install a handle nut that goes into the side of the frame here. We will bring it to the direction we need to match it to the hole right here. And repeat for the other side.

Next we will reinstall our body bracket, going through the hitch to the existing well button in the frame. And now we will take these two bolts out and reinstall the exhaust bracket. All right, at this point we can go ahead and snug down all the bolts and then make sure the hitch is where we want it. You might have a little bit of movement left to right. And then we will go ahead and torque down the bolts. Now we give the bolts their final torque. All right, that covers install of part number 13344 from Curt.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Today on this 2006 Chevrolet Uplander we are going to install part number 87410 from Hidden Hitch. This installation also applies to part number 75278 from Draw-Tite. Looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see there are two existing holes right here, and there will be a third hole drilled right here. On the passenger side we are going to use these two existing bolt holes. The new hardware that comes with the hitch will replace these, and the exhaust bracket will get installed on the top of the hitch. It is also going to be the same story with the body support bracket too. :32

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Today we are installing a Curt hitch, part number 13336 on a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. First we are going to remove the rubber exhaust hangers and lower exhaust hanger bracket on the passengers side. All right, the next step, it says, is to remove the fascia, but due to previous wiring installation on this model it has already been removed. And the next step, it says, is to disconnect the lower compressor from the drivers side, but this model is not equipped with it. All right, the next step is to use a fish wire to run the carriage bolts and the spacers through the access slots in the frame rail, leaving the carriage bolt and spacer inside the frame rail until the hitch is raised into position. Now you repeat on the passengers side. Now, the next step is to lift the hitch into place and secure it with the bolt and washer.
