Today on this 2008 Toyota Corolla S we are going to install part number 11266 from Curt. This hitch is going to be relatively easy to install. There are four holes that are threaded in the frame. These two are on the passenger side of the vehicle. Over here on the driver's side it is going to be an identical set up. :20
The threads here are a little bit corroded even though it is a 2008, there is still some rust and dust in there so take some time to clean those out first. Spray some WD-40 in there run the bolt in and out to clean it out and then if necessary you may need to run a tap through if it is really corroded. The start was easier so what you want to do is run it in a little bit then back it off and run it in and back it off. Using a wrench you do not want to tighten it down, you just want to run it in a little bit and back it off until you run the bolt all the way through. You want to do that with all the remaining holes. :49
Now we can go ahead and install our hitch. All it requires is a bolt and a conical tooth washer. Go ahead and install it to the frame. Now that we have all our bolts started we can go ahead and snnug them down. Then we can torque them down as specified in the instructions. Roughly from the edge of the bumper to the hitch pin hole center it is 7 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground it is approximately 12 inches tall. With all the bolts torqued down that finishes our install already. There you have it for part number 11266 from Curt.
