Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Mazda Tribute

Today we are going to install part number 70758 from Hidden Hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2008 Mazda Tribute. It is going to mount up on these two holes right here and here, and this one hole back here. It is going to be identical on both sides. We will begin our install by actually fish wiring the hardware into the frame. We are going to run our bolt leader from our hole here and out our access hole at the end of the frame. Now some models have a tie-down hook that is in the way that covers this up completely. In that case, you would actually have to drill a hole in the bottom of the frame. All right, and we will do the same thing on the passengers side.

All right, at this point we can actually start installing our hitch, and it is good to have an extra set of hands. We will install the rest of the hardware now. Again, we will run our bolt leader through the side and out our back access hole at the end of the frame. Pull both of them through and carefully hold the bolt in place and put on the nut and washer. And we are going to leave all the hardware loose because invariably you will probably have to move the hitch around to get the bolts in. At this point you can go ahead and snug down the bolts. And then once you have them all snugged down, you need to go ahead and torque the bolts as specified in the instructions. That finishes our install of part number 70758 from Hidden Hitch.
