Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Kia Sedona

Today we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 70761 on a 2008 Kia Sedona minivan. This application will also apply to Draw-Tite part number 75421. OK, we are underneath the vehicle, and we are looking at the drivers side frame rail. As you can see we have got three existing weld nuts here at the bottom of the frame, and these are going to provide our three attaching points for both sides of the vehicle. Also, here on the passengers side you can see our exhaust is in the way, so we are going to need to remove it off of its rear-most hanger. To remove the exhaust down, you can either remove it off of its rubber hanger or you can simply unbolt it from the bottom of the frame.

OK, now that I have got my exhaust lowered here on the passengers side, the first thing we want to do before we try to put the hitch up is to go ahead and get those weld nuts cleaned out. To do so, we are just going to take a spray lubricant, like a WD-40, and then we are going to take a wire brush. For this purpose I am going to be using actually the top side of a battery terminal cleaner. And we are just going to run that into the weld nuts and spin that around a few times. And that will help to loosen up all the debris and road grime that are in there.

All right, now that the weld nuts are thoroughly cleaned out, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We are going to be using the 12-millimeter bolts and the conical-tooth washers for the installation in each of the weld nuts. OK, now that we have got the hitch up and the bolts tightened down, we are going to go back through and torque them down. We want to check with our directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. OK, and with all our bolts torqued down and our exhaust put back up on its hanger, our installation will be complete. and this will conclude the installation of hitch part number 70761on a 2008 Kia Sedona.
