Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Today on this 2008 Jeep Wrangler, we are going to install part number 13432 from Curt. We are going to start off with the exhaust and we are just going to lower that out of the way, just to get us a little bit more working room to slide the bolts in. We will spray down the rubber hangers with some lubricant and then pry them off. Alright, now we can go ahead and show you were the hitch will mount up to the vehicle. It is going to mount on the last cross member right here, which basically doubles as the bumper structure itself. And there are four holes on the back side of this structure that we will run bolts through. And the hitch will wrap around the bumper structure. 0:38

We will go ahead and slide our hitch up in position. The hitch will match the holes on this structure here. And then we are going to bolt it with the threads pointing out the back and it is going to have a flat washer on this side. And on the other side it is going to get the locking flange nut. And the ones that simply will not go in, you can probably just twist them in like you are tightening it down and it will thread its way through. Once you get your bolts all started, we will go ahead and snug them down. Then we will torque them down as specified in the instructions. Alright, we have our hitch torque down. Let us go ahead and reinstall the exhaust back on to the rubber hangers. 1:15

We have our vehicle off of the lift. Let us go ahead and give you a couple of measurements that will help you out in choosing accessories. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground on this particular vehicle is 19-3/4 inches. And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the spare tire, we are looking at 12 inches. That will finish it for part number 13432 from Curt, on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
