Today we are going to install part number 13364 from Curt. We are going to install this on a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. We will go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up onto the vehicle and give you an idea of what is going on. The hitch bolts up onto the frame right here: these one, two, three points. And the hitch is going to use the existing hardware, too. On the other side it is a little more different. We have got to take down the exhaust to give us some working room, get those bolts out, and then slide the hitch in there, of course. One thing to know is, when you undo these bolts for the bumper brackets it will tilt up. If you are careful enough, they will stay in place, but they will just tilt up. So it is a good idea to do the rearmost bolts first, to get the hitch installed, and then snug them down where it brings the rest of the bracket inside the frame down level so you can actually thread the rest of the bolts in.
OK, when you get the hitch into position, like I said, with just the two rear bolts, make sure you move the hitch around so it clears the AC lines that are underneath here. OK, starting from the rear to the front, tighten this one down that brings the bracket a little bit closer, where you can start getting the threads on this one, which brings it down even more. And then you get down to the last one, here, and see a little bit of a gap between the bracket and the side of the frame. You just barely get it started, and then you can bring everything together. And once you get everything started, you want to make sure the whole assembly stay loose, because you have to do the same thing for the passengers side. Once you get all your bolts started, then you can go ahead and snug them down. All right, now that you have gotten them snugged down and they are all tightened, let us give them their final torque, as specified in the instructions.
Next we can go ahead and reinstall our exhaust hanger. We will start with the forward hanger first, and then work our way to the hanger that gets replaced on the hitch. The new hardware for the hanger goes into the original hanger hole, and then just reinstall the new nut. And then just basically tighten it down at that point. Make sure you have got plenty of clearance between the exhaust and the hitch. With the exhaust reinstalled, just double-check for clearance, and then you are finished with the installation of part number 13364 from Curt on our 2008 Dodge Caravan.
