Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Dodge Charger
Today we are going to install part number 90339 from Hidden Hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2008 Dodge Charger. The first step, we will undo this hanger here and unbolt the other hangers, and then we will lower the exhaust down. Now, the exhaust is sitting by itself right here. However, if you needed to get a little bit more room in there, what you can do is actually lower the exhaust a little bit more. We have to get around this edge here. You have just got to be careful when you pull around here that you do not scratch it up. The drivers side gives you a little bit more room right off the bat.
At this point, we can go ahead and install our hitch. We will just actually hang the hitch by existing threaded holes in the frame. All right, next we will install our hardware on the drivers side of the hitch. And what we will do is we will use a handle nut and the bolt and the conical-tooth washer. What is going to happen is you are going to have to bend this handle and then put it in the vehicle frame, and then just hold it in position while you thread the bolt in. There are two threaded holes on this side and only one handle nut on the drivers side. On the passengers side, it is going to be the exact opposite. OK, at this point, we have got all the bolts installed, and we can go ahead and just start snugging them down. Once you have got all the bolts snugged down, you can go ahead and torque them down as specified in the instructions. And with the bolts torqued down, do not forget to push this handle nut out of the way so your exhaust will not be bouncing off of there or vibrating.
Once you have the hitch torqued down, it is time to go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. Once the exhaust is reinstalled, just double-check it to make sure it is not too close to the hitch and will not vibrate. And that finishes it for part number 90339 from Hidden Hitch.
