Today we are going to install part number 75662 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2006 Dodge Ram full-size pickup. First we will show you where the hitch mounts onto the vehicle. It does mount onto the crossbar that is underneath the bumper here basically, like half a hitch is already there. It also is going to tie into the bumper itself. And what is going to happen is this cover for the center ball hole here is going to be actually used by the hitch. What we are going to do is pop this cover off, and we are going to a bolt that goes through here down to the hitch. Let us go ahead and take a look at the bottom of the bumper and give you a better idea of how the hitch is going to mount up.
OK, looking underneath of the bumper, this is the crossbar we were talking about earlier. It is almost like half a hitch already there. And this is the ball hole where it comes through the bumper, and that is where the hitch will actually mount up, on this hole here. And on the back side of this tube are two more holes. OK, the hitch will attach here and here. We will pull our hardware from the outside of the frame in, starting at this point here. We will start off by ing the hardware into the hitch. It goes through this bolt hole right here, so what we can do is simply just slide the nut in between there. It will be kind of a tight fit. It also has a socket where it fits into the hitch, so you do not have to worry about a wrench while you tighten it down. And we will take our big bolt that goes through the hitch pin hole and it on through.
First, we will go ahead and run our bolt leader through the hitch, into the hole in the bumper and then just push it all the way through until it comes out to the side of the frame. All right, we will put our plate onto our leader, and then we will go ahead and push that into that bumper tube there. And then we will thread on the bolt and pull the assembly all the way through. Just like that. You may have to shake it a few times to wiggle the plate and bolt into place but it generally works out pretty good. All right, then we will install our hardware for the carriage bolts - the conical-tooth washer and the nut. And we will just snug those down into place. And then we will start tightening down the fasteners. And we will tighten them down to the torque specified in the instructions. After you torque down the bolts, that finishes it for part number 75662 from Draw-Tite.
