Today on this 2005 Ford F-150 we are going to install part number, 82595 from Hidden Hitch. This is a Class III receiver hitch. First off, we will show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame. We are showing you the driver's side here, it is going to be identical on both sides. We are going to be u sing this hole right here, the closest one towards the bumper, and on the other side of the suspension hanger we are going to use this hole here, and below the square hole in the frame, we will use this hole here. :30
We will go ahead and start fish wiring our bolts into the frame, why we are doing that is because the frame is enclosed at this section. The part going towards the bumper is not enclosed, so it will be easier to work with. For now, we will take our fish wire, which is included with the installation kit, and run it in the hole that we are going to use and pull it through the square hole that we are going to use as our access hole. Next, we will slide on one of the blocks, all the blocks are going to be the same. We will put that in, let it fall in. Then we will thread on our bolt, and all the bolts are the same, size 2. Just go ahead and thread it onto the bolt leader. Then push everything inside. 1:30
Then what is going to happen is, we are going to have the hitch in position and we will pull it out, but for now, we are going to leave everything in the inside except for the wire. When we put the hitch up we are going to thread the wire through the hitch and put the hitch into position and then we can pull our bolt back through. We will go ahead and repeat that for the remaining hole on this side of the frame and we will move over to the passenger side and repeat the same process. We will now lift the hitch into position, remember the fish wires are going to be threaded through the bolt holes in the hitch from the inside, out. Push the hitch into position, and then use the bolts towards the bumper to hold everything up. You defiantly need an extra set of hands for this. We will loosely install the hardware because we need to move the hitch around to get the bolts into the other side. We will put on our conical tooth washer and nut, be careful that you do not push the bolt back in. The hitch is pulling down a bit so that helps. 3:14
Now we will do the same thing on the passenger side. Again, you want to leave the hitch as loose as possible so we can get those bolts out from the inside. With all the bolts, conical tooth washers, and nuts installed we will next snug everything down and give the bolts their final torque as specified in the instructions. After our bolts are torqued down that finishes our install. There you have it for part number 82595 from Hidden Hitch on a 2005 Ford F-150.
