Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
Today we are going to install part number 87135 from Hidden Hitch and we are going to install this on a Chevrolet Equinox, an 2005 model. To show you where the hitch installs, it will use this mounting hole right here, and then it will also mount on these two holes on the side of the frame. They are threaded. All right, you can see the one bolted on the side here, and there is one directly above it, also. All right, next we are going to start installing our hardware in the frame. Basically, what we are going to do is install this block and this bolt. What we will do is run our bolt leader through the block and then thread our bolt into it, and then push the whole assembly up into the frame. One, two, then the block - then pull everything back through. And then go ahead and repeat the same operation on the other side.
OK, at this point we can go ahead and hang the hitch on the two bolts we have existing. It is kind of hard to get around both sides of the frame, so it might be a good idea to have an extra set of hands. Next what we are going to do is install the bolts that go to the bottom of the bumper here. And depending on the condition of your vehicle, you might want to take some time out before installing the hitch to clean up the threads in there due to rust, dirt and corrosion that could happen. Now you still want to leave everything nice and loose because you will need to move around to get the bolt holes lined up onto the side of the frame. Once we have got all our bolts installed and started we can go ahead and tighten down and snug them all up. All right, that covers our install of part number 87135 on our Chevrolet Equinox.
