Today on this 2002 Ford E-350 van, we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 14055. Before we get started with our hitch installation, we are going to go ahead and show you a couple of final install dimensions which will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 19-1/2 inches. And from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to be approximately 5-1/2 inches. And now we will go ahead and move on to our installation. 0:28
We are starting off underneath the vehicle and we are going to point out the mounting holes that we are going to be using to attach the hitch to the vehicle. Starting over here on the driver side of the vehicle, you can see we have multiple holes here in the end of the frame. We are going to be using the two rearmost holes as our two rearmost attaching points. The fifth hole, or the forward most hole, will be our final attaching point. Not only on our driver side but on our passenger side as well. Into each one of those holes, we are going to be taking the 1/2 inch carriage bolt, along with the 1-1/2 by 2 inch block combination we will be merging the two and setting them on top of the frame down through the hole. Now, at the forward most attaching point on the driver side you may have the carbon canister mounted here. If that is the case, you are going to need to go ahead and take and remove that temporarily, just to get the hardware in position. 1:18
With all of the hardware set into position, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into place. At the middle attaching point, we will need the flat washer and that is going to shim up the extra space that we have with this overlapping flange here. And then with the hitch up in position and the bolts tightened down, we are just going to go back through and torque each one of the bolts down. You want to verify with the directions the specific torque rating for each of the bolts. With the bolts torqued down, our installation will be complete. This will conclude the installation of Curt hitch part number 14055 on a 2002 Ford E-350 van.
