Today on this 2000 Jeep Wrangler we are going to install part number 75193 from Draw-Tite. This will also apply to part number 87431 from Hidden Hitch. I will go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame of the vehicle. It is going to mount up using existing threaded holes in the frame here. This bolt will get replaced by the hardware in the kit and also to attach to the side of the frame you will use the existing hole. This is actually going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle.
I will go ahead and start off on the passenger side and remove this bolt on the end of the frame. The kit actually comes with two different types of replacement bolts for the vehicle. This is our original factory bolt of course, however this bolt has changed over the years. Earlier versions of this vehicle actually use standard American thread and later versions use Metric thread. And the best way to tell which one you have is you can look at the head of the bolt and if it has numbers on it like 10.9 you know you have a metric bolt. If you can not read that the next best way is to take the bolts and match the threads together. If they actually mesh and you can not pull them apart you have the the right bolt.
At this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch. Lets go ahead and put the hitch up under the frame with the tabs going on the outside of the frame. All right now what we will do is we will just snug up the bolts to help bring the hitch up to line up the holes on the side of the frame. Now we will go ahead and install our hardware from the outside to the inside and we will install our bolt and lock washer. To keep from knocking the hitch back and fourth we will just thread it into place. Once you get the bolt started through there halfway then you can go ahead and install our handle nut which conforms to the frame and go on to the threads of the bolt. You can see how the handle nut gets threaded onto the bolt and then once you have it tightened down you can simply just push this handle nut up out of the way. And you can go ahead and repeat for the other side.
Now that we have all our bolts installed we can go ahead and snug them down. Now that our bolts are snugged down we can torque them down as specified in the instructions. And that will finish it for our install of part number 75193 from Draw-Tite.
