Today on this 1998 GMC Savana Van we will be installing a Draw-Tite hitch part number 41921. Looking at the underneath of the vehicle we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes that we are going to be using to install our trailer hitch. Over here on the passenger side you can see we have got two existing holes here at the end of the frame rail and then two holes closer together more at the forward side. For this hitch installation we are going to need to enlarge each one of these holes to 9/ 16 and that application is going to apply for the driver side as well. 00:31
Here at the rear most hole we are going to be installing this bracket as well inside of the frame so you can see it has got a hole here at the bottom and a hole here at the top. This hole here is going to align with the rear most hole in the frame. This hole here is going to align with the oblong hole at the side of the frame. 00:47
So the first thing we want to do is go ahead and enlarge all of the holes and then we will go ahead and put the brackets into place. With the hole drilled out we can go ahead and place the bracket into the frame. Then we will take one of the 9/ 16 bolts along with a flat washer. Slide it through the hole on the side of the frame and we are going to go ahead and attach that using a flat washer, lock washer and, hex nut. We are going to take another 9/ 16 bolt with the flat washer and it into the rear most hole through the bracket. At the middle attaching point we are going to be using the single holed block along with the 9/ 16 bolt. Then at the forward holes we are going to be using the double holed block and two 9/ 16 bolts. We want to repeat that setup on the passenger side and then we will go ahead and put the hitch up into place. We are going to be attaching all of these, again, with the flat washer, lock washer, and nut combination. With all of the bolts in place we can go ahead and start torquing them down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. With all of our bolts torqued down our installation is complete. This will conclude the installation of Draw-Tite hitch part number 41921 on a 1998 GMC Savana Van.
