Review of the Thule Hull-A-Port Pro Rooftop Kayak Carrier
Today we are going to show you part number TH835PRO from Thule. What we have here is our Hull-A-Port Pro Folding J Rooftop Kayak Carrier. So what this does is help you carry your Kayak on your Thule load bars or factory load bars on your vehicle. What you see is only half the kit we already have the other half assembled and installed on our vehicle. The furthest right we have the cradle it self that holds the Kayak. These here are the clamps that clamp it to the load bars. Next we have tie up straps to load the Kayak to the cradle. We also have 2 sets of bolts here depending on what kind of load bar you have. This first set is for Thule load bars and the 2nd set is for factory load bars. It also comes complete with tie down straps to keep your Kayak pointing straight with your vehicle when your going down the road
The first step of the installation is installing the hardware. It is pretty simple we just the bolts right through here. Make sure they go all the way through to the bottom. You have to move a little bit of the rubber and plastic to get it to seat in there completely. Next we will install the clamps loosely install them really 2 or 3 turns at the most. Before we install it we need to open it up and simply pull this lever out and it just swings out and we can install it. Now we can just install our clamps and get even with the other one. Then you can just tighten them down by hand. Next we can install our straps the first step in that is to install our buckle protector. Which what it does is keeps the buckle from scratching your car. Then install this strap through this little loop here at the bottom. We will just leave it off to the side and put our rack back up. At this point we are ready to load up our Kayak. Next we can go ahead and load up our Kayak. Once we have our Kayak centered on the rack we will pull the straps over from the backside to the front and run it through the loop then pull it tight. Now we will roll up our strap and push it in the small compartmen
Next we want to assemble our tie down straps. It is pretty simple start off using your hook. Tie it down to your hook and then use whatever favorite knot you like. Now we need to run it through the other tie down hook. Go ahead and start it in there, push that lever back to free it up and spin the wheel until it comes out the other side. Thats it now we can apply this to our boat. You start off by finding an attaching point underneath the vehicle then take the other end and hook it onto the end of the boat. Tighten it as you see fit then do the same thing for the back side. Make sure the boat is tight on your car then there you have it. The TH835PRO Hull-A-Port Pro from Thule.
