Review of the OSI Swinging 4 Hitch Bike Rack

This is a swing away bicycle rack that only fits a two inch receiver hitch and is good for four bikes. We will demonstrate this rack to you and we will do that by installing the rack onto the vehicle and showing you how it works. As you can see, we have our completed assembly now, what we will do is show you how a couple of bikes will mount on to the rack. We will start off with a standard frame bicycle. We will now show you how an alternative frame sits on the rack. Our final touch will be to install the top clamp. As you can see the top plate is installed and basically the bikes are ready to go down the road.

The first of the features we will talk about is the locking knob itself. As you can see, there is one locking knob attached to one nice plate that covers all four bikes. Lock the knob down and you do not have to worry about security. We will show you how the lock works. Basically you insert the key one way, turn it and when in the locked position the knob will turn freely and you cannot unscrew it. When you unlock it, the knob does not rotate freely so you can take off the cap to take off your bikes. As you can see the cradles here are fully lined with a rubber material that will definitely keep your bikes from getting scratched up.

Now we will step on to the main feature of this bicycle rack which is the swing away design. What is really nice about this, you can swing away the rack and get in your vehicle if you need to without having to take the bikes off. Also we will show you the top part that swivels to get the bikes away even further. This gives you even more room to get to your vehicle or work around the bikes. Also we will give you some measurements on the rack itself so you can measure your own bike to double check for clearance. The outside is 6 inches wide and top to bottom is 3-1/4 inches. As you can see this bike rack has full features, it is part # DBR400. This is a four bike carrier good for a two inch receiver hitch only.

Hitch Bike Rack Comparison

Today were going to talk about getting your bikes together with your vehicle so you can go riding. Over here we have a variety of different bikes, the mom and dads bikes, and the kids bikes. Obviously, they have all different types of frames and sizes. What we are going to do here is figure out what kind of bicycle rack works with your type of bikes. To start off there are three different types of bicycle racks, i guess you could say three different configurations. One is the single arm version, on the left hand side here. It is pretty much the original design bicycle rack, not much has changed besides clamps and the hinge part at the bottom. It is the most economical one, for the most part it is the most tried and true piece of equipment. The next one in the center here, is called the two armed version. Basically, it is more stable, has two points of contact on the bicycle rack. It has pretty much been around as long as the single arm version, again it has proven technology, and pretty much there is not much to it except for the width on them. And then the last version is the wheel mount, which is relatively new. It grabs the bikes by the wheel and the frame so you have three points of contact compared to the other two.
