Review of Valley Odyssey II Geometric Proportional Electric Brake Controller

Today we are going to show you part number 32810. This is the Odyssey II brake controller. This is manufactured by Valley. This is a total electronic brake controller. It is proportional so it is a really easy-to-use unit. We will go over some of the features here and then show you how it works. First off, we will cover some of the functions on the brake controller. It is a little bit different from most. You may be used to the slide lever being on the side, to activate the manual override. Well, this one has a pressure-sensitive switch on this corner here. And you push it down, and the harder you press, the more current goes out. What is different about this brake controller is that is has all push buttons on it. You may be used to brake controllers that have the lever on the side or underneath, but on this one it is all push buttons. And for your manual override, you use this button right here. It is a pressure-sensitive switch, basically the harder you press the more current goes out.

And also, the gain control is a little bit different too. It has one button on each side for that. It has a button on one side with the plus sign, obviously to increase the current. And on the other side, you have a negative sign that brings it back down, it looks like about one tenth at a time. And you can hold it down, too. And also what is really nice about this one, that I do not believe any of the other brake controllers have, is that it has four user settings, which is really nice. It you use this for more than one trailer say, for instance, you have one trailer that weighs so much and you have another trailer that weighs less, you can actually program the brake controller for different trailers. And you know, as long as they still have the same weight, you can go by the user control. You have got user 1, 2, 3 and 4. You can basically program four different trailers in this brake controller and then you are ready to go.

This also has what is called a boost button or trailer load control. Basically, it has one-two-three-four levels. Again, it comes on at a predetermined rate and it works basically like a time delay brake controller. At first, it makes sure your trailer brakes come on and after a second it goes back to proportional. So after you are done slowing down, the brake controller will keep up with you and will not lock up the brakes when you do not need to. What you get in the box, you get the bracket, which gets screwed to the bottom of the dash. It comes with a packet of two screws. And this bracket actually holds the brake controller basically like that. And it comes with a nice, big chunk of 3M adhesive to hold it in place also. That would be kind of good if you are actually going to place the brake controller on top of the dash, as opposed to on the bottom. And also what comes in handy, a little card that gives you quick notes on how the brake controller works, too. All right, there you have it for the Valley Odyssey II brake controller, part number 32810.

All right, there you have it for the Valley Odyssey II brake controller, Part Number 32810.
