Review of the Thule T2 2 Bike Wheel Mount Carrier
Today we are going to show you part number TH916. This is the Thule T2 bike rack for 2 inch trailer hitches only. This is a wheel mount and it is also expandable. Some of the features of this bike includes that it accommodates most bikes regardless of frame designs, suspension or even wheel size. The bike rack folds up next to the vehicle when not in use and the support arms of the mounting system pull down for easier storage. It has a built in anti sway device that stabilizes the bike rack and hitch receiver. The bike carrier tilts down for more convenient access to the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The mounting system is designed for quick and easy loading of bikes into the carrier. There is no wheel removal necessary. The cushion bar on the front of the mounting mechanism secures the bike at the fork and adjusts to the wheel height. Then the rear wheel mount slides to adjust to the bike length. The rubber straps secure bike wheels at the front and the back of the carrier.
It carrier up to 2 bikes and it has an optional one key system locks that are able to secure bikes for the bike carrier. The maximum weight capacity is 160 pounds, when used with a 2 bike add on. The maximum single bike weight capacity is 60 pounds. It holds the bikes with the wheel size from 20 inches to 29 and a tire width of up to 3 inches. The wheel base of the bike cannot exceed 48 inches. Next we are going to show you the folding capabilities of this. As I said before, it actually does bend forward but it also folds up for storage capacity. It bends forward so you can get to the rear of your vehicle with ease and no problem. It works by simply pulling the lever towards you and letting it fall towards you, or pushing it up into the upright position. Now before we do this, we are going to go ahead and lower the arms, first pull the pin, and there is the leaning down portion of it, which gains rear vehicle access. You pull the lever again and now it is in prime position for storage or putting in the back of your trunk when not in use. Put the pin back through.
We are going to load a bike. First we are going to show you a few preparations that you have to go through. First off, we are going to go ahead and put this arm down since we are going to be loading up closer to the actual vehicle. And with this, you want this extended out, as far as possible, so it can go over the front edge of the bike. Put the bike into the proper wheel mounts. Put this over the front tire, until you hear or feel the snaps to make sure that it is locked into place. Then we will move on to the back tire here. There you have it, your bike is ready for the road.
Next we will show you some of the finer features of the actual cradles and whatnot themselves. First off, the front wheel mounts here. Now these are not move able and they simply just rest the front tire in there. Then you use these locking hooks to secure the front wheel. Now to lift them up, you press into this button here and they lift up just fine. And to lock them down, you just push down. This portion here, this hammer top, actually locks into the other side here. And then you pull this through to actually lock the back wheel into place. As you can see here, these are actually adjustable with the alan wrench key that is given to you with the bike rack, which enables you to turn it like so. And there you have it for part number TH916. This is the Thule T2 bike rack for 2 inch trailer hitches, which is a wheel mount edition and expandable.
