Review of a Thule Flat Top 4 Skis or 2 Snowboards Carrier

Today we are going to cover part number TH91724 from Thule. This is Thules Flat Top Ski and Snowboard Carrier. This carrier is designed to carry up four skis or two snowboards. We will go ahead and cover some of the features of this rack in a little more detail.

The first feature we will cover is the easy, push-button design. When it is unlocked, all you need to do is push this button right here. It is easy if you have gloves or mitts on. The whole top comes open, like so. The next nice feature is that there is plenty of rubber padding for your equipment in there, so you do not have to worry about anything getting scratched up or being pinched whatsoever. One nice detail is in the hardware itself it actually has a little bit of anti-theft engineered into it. It is kind of hard to see, but there is a little button inside a torques head bit there, and that keeps you from using a regular torques bit from unbolting it off the carrier when you do not want that to happen. You can see in the tool here, there is actually a little hole on the end for a little button on the side of the bolt to go into. And what clamps it to the roof rack, these clamps bolt on underneath the rack here. And this will bolt onto a variety of different roof-rack bars.

We have covered the main features here. Let us go ahead and install this on a typical roof rack and give you a better idea of how it looks and how it works. As you can see, we have one half already installed. That will give you a good idea of how it looks. We will go ahead and show you how to install the second half. Ski carrier, kind of started the clamps on one side swing them underneath there and get the other side started. Insert the bolts into it, and you want to tighten them down until they are snug, because you still have to move the ski rack back and forth just a little bit so you have them even on the vehicle. We will go ahead and do the other side. It helps to have long arms, too, folks. All right, once you have them stable, go ahead and measure it out to make sure you have them even on both sides. All right, once you have it centered, go ahead and tighten down the bolts. We have got our racks installed let us go ahead and load them up with some equipment.

Push the button, open it up, and then go ahead and load up. Once you have your equipment in place, you just go ahead and pull it down and snap it into position. And then you can lock them down so they will be secure. And your equipment is ready to go to hit the road. All right, and that covers part number TH91724 from Thule, the Thule Flat Top Ski and Snowboard Carrier.
