Review of the Thule Easyline Galvanized Utility Trailer Kit

Today we are going to show you the Easyline Galvanized Utility Trailer Kit from Thule. The body on these trailers are all galvanized, plated steel, along with the tongue and the coupler. And the axle itself is really nice. There are no springs involved it is an actual torsion axle. And these kits are really easy to put together, consisting of a half-dozen big pieces at most. You have got the axle, you have got the tongue itself, and you have got the sides and the body itself. There are five panels for the body plus two fenders. The only thing else that you have to assemble is the wiring, and that in itself is pretty easy to do. It is a good afternoon project. This particular model we are showing is part number TP150. It is also available in other part numbers: the dimensions are going to be a little bit longer, with part numbers TP170 and TP205.

We will cover some of the features of the trailer, starting with the front and we will work our way to the rear. First off, we have the safety cable here. It is one nice, big cable here that will go up to your hitch, just like a safety chain. And also we have the wiring right here. It uses a conventional 4-pole flat, and most cars and trailers can be equipped with that, no problem. And the coupler here is an all-galvanized unit - a trigger-style coupler, like so. It works with a 2-inch ball. Next we have a single pole tongue trailer here, all galvanized. It is going to last you for a very long time in the rain environments. Also, this is a tilt mechanism right here. You just undo the knob, undo this latch, and also undo this safety pin here. And also there is a safety pin that goes on here, too, when you are actually going down the road to keep the knob from coming loose, too. Undo that knob, undo this little latch, and the whole bed will tilt for you. Next you can see this axle right here. As you can see, this is an actual torsion axle there are no springs or shackle links or anything to worry about. Plus it makes the whole trailer a lot easier to assemble. In fact, this whole axle assembly here requires only that the wheels be bolted on and then these brackets here get bolted to the bottom of the frame right here. There are only four bolts to hold this on, so again, it is really easy to install and put together. As you can see, in the middle this is your tilt point right here.

While we are under the trailer, you can see the wire harness here. The trailer does come with a complete set of lights. It has two marker lights on the front of the trailer, and then you have got two brake lights and turn signals on the back of the trailer. As you can see here, we have got two running lights up here, and the wire harness itself is jacketed in plastic material that adds to durability - just like four wires bundled together like you see under a lot of other trailers. So this is actually a nice, heavy-duty wire harness on here. As you can see, it goes down the side and goes down to the back of the trailer, where it is all bolted onto that sheet metal back there.

As you see, we have the back view of the trailer now. And you can see, we have two tail lights here. And we also have two license plate lights to illuminate the license plate, which would be typically mounted in this general area right here. And you can also see that the whole bed itself is constructed of galvanized, corrugated material. And also the tailgate comes down relatively easy, also. There is a latch on each side, kind of like an industrial version of a suitcase latch. And there you have it, easy access to the bed.

And one of the nice details about this trailer is that the actual tie-down points here - you can see three in the front here, and they are also along all four sides of the trailer - these are really nice to put bungee hooks onto here, or even your rope-style tie-downs. And the tire size on this trailer is a 480 by 12 inch tire and wheel. And there you have it for part number TP150, the Easyline Galvanized Utility Trailer Kit from Thule - also available in longer sizes as part number TP170 and TP205.
