Review of the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Carrier

Today we are going to show you part number TH912 this is the folding tube bike carrier for 1 inch and 1/4 and 2 inch trailer hitches. This is the Thule Roadway. The Thule Roadway carrier, for up to 2 bikes, has the quick and easy hitch switch that allows you to just flip the switch to fold the bike carrier down and away from the rear of the vehicle. The switch also makes it super convenient to fold the arms down when not in use. The dual arm construction with rotating cradles lets you carry a wider variety of bikes without the use of an adapter. An anti sway strap and built in anti rattle device keeps movement to a minimum while traveling. Also keep in mind that this can be upgraded with a no sway cage accessory which is part number TH955 which works exclusively with T3 cradles and prevents bikes from rocking back and forth on the carrier.

Its weight capacity is 70 pounds and it measures just 10 and a half inches from the center of the pin hole to the upright bar of the bike carrier. We are going to show you how you can convert the shank from a inch and a 1/4 to a 2 inch hitch and back and forth. This bolt here, you will need a hex key for. Simply goes in there and slide it off, then you have 1 inch and a 1/4 shank. Right now we are going to show you how this installs into the hitch and show you the anti sway bolt. It installs relatively easy and, in fact, Thule actually gives you the tool to tighten it down so you do not have to go out and buy a wrench or a ratchet or what have you. Make sure you line up the holes so that you can get the bolts in okay. It just simply screws in and then you use the tool that Thule provides you with and tighten it down.

Next we are going to show you how the tilt down feature works. You simply lift up on the handle and let the bike rack fold towards you and away from the rear of the vehicle. Now you can actually get to the back of your truck when necessary. The arms also have this feature which make it fold down and it gives you a little bit more storage space when you are not using it. To fold it up and lets say put it in the trunk of your car when you are not using it. Okay, next we are going to go ahead and put a bike on there, but before we do, we can go ahead and undo the straps of the cradles so it makes it a little easier for us to load up. You simply lift it over and strap it in. These straps are nice and flexible and pretty willing to accommodate any bike.

And for added security Thule also gives, with this bike rack, a strap that you can use to tie down your bikes for a little bit of added security for those longer trips. Next we are going to show off the cradles here. As I said before, the straps are nice and flexible. They are pretty much willing to accommodate any bike need. You can also strap it down on both sides if need be, very nice and flexible. The cradles here can actually move back and forth or side to side to accommodate different bike frame styles. Also, as you see here, there are little grooves inside the cradles which keep the cables from mashing up against the frame. There you have it for part number TH912, the folding 2 bike carrier for 1 inch and 1/4 and 2 inch trailer hitches, the Thule Roadway.
